Officers were tipped off to the scam after receiving a call from the North Street Pharmacy in Banksville on Friday, Nov. 23, said the Greenwich Police Department.
Undercover cops along with patrol officers were told that the three men would be returning to the pharmacy to obtain additional prescriptions, that one of the suspects had called into, pretending to be a doctor, police said.
Police set up a surveillance on the pharmacy and watched as the three entered the parking lot. All three were nabbed as they attempted to obtain the additional prescription, police said.
The arrest report stated that the three suspects had also successfully obtained the medicine at four additional locations.
The three, William Tifa, 21, of New York City; Vecus Darcie, 20, also of New York City, and Thomas Martinez, 21, of Cincinnati, were charged with obtaining a controlled drug through fraud, possession of narcotics, conspiracy and illegal possession of a controlled substance.
Tifa and Darcie are being held on $50,000 bail. Martinez was released on a promise to appear summons.
